Eyemobile Eye Screening

In the year 2000, Project Vision, Inc. (PVI) established a unique joint venture relationship with Jewish Healthcare Internaitonal (JHI), providing the opthalmology component of their program. PVI joins a host of other JHI partners including:

The State of Israel
American Joint Distribution Committee
(JDC)
The Jewish Agency of Israel (JAFI)
Israel Ministry of Health
Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Federation of North America

Our relationship with JHI improves the quality of vision care as well as the access to multiple specialty healthcare for communities in the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere. Also in 2000, Project Vision was featured as one of the United Jewish Communities (UJC) agencies exemplifying a true commitment to caring for our communities around the world. In addition to the Ethiopian absorption centers, PVI continues to work in partnership with JHI in some of the sites mentioned in our ongoing missions section, and plans on expanding our programs in the USA and Ukraine. The visual screening program may also expand to different “Partnership 2000 Jewish Agency” communities in Israel with support from different Federations. JHI continues to work with the Ministry of Health and Israeli volunteers in the Ethiopian Olim programs throughout Israel, which identify those needing reading glasses, prescription and other assistance.

We have also enhanced and developed new relationships with different hospitals in Israel with the cooperation of the Ophthalmology Scientific Council and have begun utilizing them in the absorption center projects. The different hospital staff and departments are a vital source for volunteers and access to additional care, as well as help us coordinate services with the facilitators at the absorption centers.

We hope to implement these resources this fall as we begin to expand throughout the entire state of Israel.

As JHI develops more sites, ophthalmologic needs will be critical and Project Vision will play a central role as a partner.
